Community Announcements
Candidate Filing Date is
Announced for Mills County Extension Council
Candidate
filing has begun for candidates seeking to have their name on the November
general election ballot for the Mills County Extension Council.
Candidates must file nomination/affidavits by August 30 with at least 25
names on the nomination petition which is to be filed with the county election
commissioner.
Those
interested in filing should contact one of the Mills County Extension Council
Nominating Committee:

Mills County Public Health
is looking for volunteers for the PROJECT H.E.L.P. PROGRAM. Volunteers
will be conducting home visits to newborn babies and their families in the Mills
County area to share and gather information. Volunteers will be provided
complete training, will be reimbursed for mileage, and will be able to set their
own schedule. If you would like to become a volunteer for this program,

Dollars Available to Assist With
Care of Your Well
The Mills County Public Health / Sanitarian office would like to
announce the continued availability of Grant dollars to assist with the care of
your well. These dollars are provided by the Iowa Department of Natural
Resources (DNR) and are available to assist with the following item: Well
testing, water test kits are available at no cost to test well water for
bacteria and nitrates. Well Closure, abandoned wells may be closed in an
appropriate manner with cost share assistance up to $25.00 per well.
Well reconstruction, wells in need or repair may be maintained with a cost share
assistance of up to $600.00 per well. Please contact the Mills County
Public Health office at 712-527-9699 regarding well testing. Please
contact the Mills County Engineer's office at 712-527-4873 for additional
information regarding well closure and well construction..
Senior Meal Site
Senior Citizens can socialize and enjoy a hot noon meal each day at the Senior
Meal site. Reservations must be made with Carrie Merritt at 527-9221.
