The Davies Amphitheater, situated in the beautiful Glenwood Lake Park, offers quality, family entertainment throughout the summer months.  The facility which won the 1981 Iowa Architectural Award for design was left to the people of Glenwood in the estate of the late Mr. Charlie Davies.  In addition to the generosity of Mr. Davies, the amphitheater is supported by the Raymond Thomas Trust and the Friends of the Davies Amphitheater.
 
The Davies Amphitheater seats 750 people.  It is equipped with dressing rooms, public rest rooms, concession stand and is handicapped accessible.  The facility also has a complete sound system and full theatrical lighting.

Although the amphitheater management schedules regular evenings of entertainment, the facility is also available for rent by the public.  Many area churches have taken advantage of this lovely setting and have held morning services and weddings there.

Directed by Pete Jacobus and Gordon Woodrow, the band’s programs feature that old time 'Concert in the Park' atmosphere, complete with an announcer, and a broad selection of music that is sure to entertain everyone.

Melody Wranglers - The Melody Wranglers kick it up with old style country, western swing and honky-tonk music. They tip their hats to such country music greats as Hank Williams, Patsy Cline, Bob Wills, Buck Owens, Dolly Parton and Merle Haggard. Each of the Wranglers has over 30 years of professional music experience and all are former members of the legendary Nebraska country-swing band, Sour Mash. Wrangler members have recorded on numerous albums and CDs, performed on radio and TV and have won awards at music festivals across the country. With tight vocal harmonies and hot instrumental picking, if it calls for country, these folks can handle it.

Southwest Iowa Men’s Chorus - The Southwest Iowa Men’s Chorus, sponsored by Iowa Western Community College, is in its tenth year of performing.  The group is under the direction of Joel Johnston, conductor, presenter, choreographer and adjudicator with 23 years of experience in music education.  The chorus consists of approximately 35 men from the southwest Iowa area, including 7 from Glenwood.  The group will be a featured performer at the Nebraska Choral Directors convention in July.

Richie Lee and the Fabulous 50’s - Welcome back to the Davies Amphitheater stage, Richie Lee and the Fabulous 50’s.  They let us know that The Music Didn’t Die.  Performing since the age of 11, Richie is best known for his tribute to Buddy Holly.  Eighteen year-old Richie has performed on stage with the Crickets (Buddy Holly’s band), Bobby Vee, the Drifters, the Shirelles, and many of the other early Rock’n Roll bands.  If you have ever tapped your feet to the music of Buddy Holly, Jerry Lee Lewis, Eddie Cochran, Ritchie Valens, Roy Orbison, Elvis, the Everly Brothers and many others, you won’t want to miss “Richie Lee & The Fabulous 50’s.”  www.richieleeproductions.com
